Chess Engines.

Fritz 13 and Rybka 4 were released last year. No sign of a new Chessmaster though. It seems unlikely that Ubisoft will continue with the franchise. I personally won't be buying the new engines. I already have Fritz 12 and Rybka 3. I don't really know why I have them. I suspect they aren't very beneficial to a weak player like me. I do analyse my games with Rykba 3 sometimes. But I really should be analysing them myself. Its a pity about Chessmaster. If only Ubisoft could sort out its legal trouble in Europe with Rocksmith then maybe I could play that instead. :)

GM Michael Adams won the championship after two rapid play off games to decide whether he or GM Nigel Short would win. Since they were tied at the top of the table after round 11. IM Jovanka Houska won the Women's British Championship. The games are available on the website.

National Chess Day

America has a national chess day. I think it might be nice to have one in Britain. Its doubtful the government would introduce it though.
